NOTICE OF VACANCIES

The Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA), established under the Ports Act 1998 is responsible for the management and administration of land and other immovable assets located in the port area of Port Louis and Port Mathurin. The MPA is also responsible to grant licences to persons/entities providing any port services or facilities thereat.

The Estate Management & Licensing Section of the MPA is in charge for all estate management and licensing processes.

The MPA is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the filling of the following posts in its Estate Management & Licensing Section:

 

A.

POST

:

LAND SURVEYOR

 

SALARY SCALE

:

Rs 48,200 x 1,525 – 61,925 x 2,200 – 64,125 x 2,525 – 71,700 x 3,725 – 82,875 x 5,050 – 92,975

 

QUALIFICATIONS

:

(i) A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’

(ii) Bachelors Degree in Land Surveying or equivalent.

(iii) Holder of Land Surveyor’s Commission issued under the Land Surveyors Act 1979

OR

(i) A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’

(ii) Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent.

(iii) Holder of Land Surveyor’s Commission issued under the Land Surveyors Act 1979

 

EXPERIENCE

:

At least 3 years of post-registration experience in Land Administration and Land Surveying or equivalent (in the case of the Bachelors Degree holder)

OR

At least 5 years’ of post-registration experience in Land Administration and Land survey (in the case of the Diploma holder)

 

AGE LIMIT FOR ENTRY

:

B.

POST

:

OFFICER, ESTATE MANAGEMENT & LICENSING

 

SALARY SCALE

:

Rs 29,250 x 875 – 31,000 x 1,000 – 32,000x 1,100 – 36,400 x 1,425– 42,100 x 1,525 – 58,875

 

QUALIFICATIONS

:

(i) A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’, including Mathematics.

(ii) Diploma in Land Surveying or Management or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE

:

At least 3 years’ experience in Estate Management or Cadastral survey or equivalent

:

C.     ENLISTMENT OF TRAINEE SURVEYORS

 

PROFILE

:

Diplomates/graduates in Land Surveying from the University of Mauritius or the University of Technology or any other recognized institution for their pre-registration training as required under the Land Surveyor's Act 1979

 

The Trainee Surveyors will be working under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager Estate Management and Licensing of the Mauritius Ports Authority.

 

DUTIES

:

 

 

During the training period, the Trainee Surveyors will be required to inter alia:

(a)      assist in the plotting and finishing of survey plans;

(b)      make searches in respect of immovable properties;

(c)       inspect MPA's Lands and report to the Senior Manager, Estate Management and Licensing;

(d)      ensure that conditions of leases are complied with;

(e)       operate the Printing Machine/Plan Plotter in connection with printing of surveys plans;

(f)       assist the Land Surveyor in hydrographic surveys; and

(g)       carry out any such other cognate duties.

 

The selected Trainee Surveyors will be enlisted on a fixed term contract of two years and will be paid an all-inclusive monthly allowance of Rs 25,525.

  1. The closing date for the submission of applications in respect of the above-mentioned posts is Thursday 19 October 2023.
  1. Candidates should attach documentary evidence of qualifications and work experience claimed failing which consideration would not be given to the application.
  1. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualifications from relevant authorities rests on the candidates.
  1. Only the best qualified candidates will be convened for interview. Late applications will not be considered.
