ENLISTMENT OF TRAINEES UNDER THE MAURITIUS PORTS AUTHORITY (MPA) SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCHEME

The Mauritius Ports Authority established under the Ports Act 1998, is a landlord port responsible for the provision and improvement of port infrastructure and related facilities.

The MPA has introduced a Skills Development Scheme for unemployed degree holders. This Scheme is aimed at providing young unemployed graduates with an opportunity to enhance their skills/training while at the same time to gain valuable experience in a dynamic sector.

In this respect, it is proposed to enlist Rodriguan graduates aged between 20 to 35 years and holding an undergraduate Degree in the fields of IT and Management to undergo placement at the MPA, Port Mathurin, Rodrigues.

The duration of the training would be for a fixed term of two years. The selected trainees would be entitled to an all inclusive monthly stipend of Rs 15,000/- (inclusive of travelling expenses).

Vacancies - Rodrigues

The Mauritius Ports Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified Rodriguan candidates for the filling of vacancies in the grades of: -

1.		POST	:	CONTROLLER, PORT SERVICES (PORT MATHURIN)
		SALARY SCALE	:	Rs 31,800 x 1,300 - 37,000 x 1,400 – 52,400
		QUALIFICATIONS	:	(i)	Having studied up to School Certificate
				(ii)	Certificate as an Able Seafarer Deck as per Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) 1978 as amended.
	EXPERIENCE		:	Having served at least 3 years as Seaman on merchant vessels or at least 5 years as Seaman on board fishing vessels of not less than 24 meters either in the Engine Room or on deck
	AGE LIMIT FOR ENTRY		:	Candidates should not have reached their 55^th birthday at the closing date of applications Note Consideration may be given to candidates of 55 years of age and above for employment on contract basis

	SALARY SCALE		:	Rs 24,500 x 800 - 26,900 x 900 - 27,800 x 1,000 - 31,800 x 1,300 - 37,000 X 1,400- 45,400
	QUALIFICATIONS		:	A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’
