NOTICE OF VACANCY

The Mauritius Ports Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified local and international candidates who wish to be considered for appointment for the post of PORT MASTER.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Certificate of Competency as a Foreign-going Master Class I as per revised STCW.

- At least 7 years’ post- qualification experience as Master of a convention size vessel

Note: The following would constitute an advantage

(i) A Master’s Degree in Administration or any related field

(ii) Shore-based managerial experience in port sector/maritime business

· Certificate of Competency as a Foreign-going Master Class I as per revised STCW

· At least 8 years’ post- qualification experience at a Senior Management level in the Maritime Business

Note: A Master’s Degree in Administration or any related field would be an advantage

AGE LIMIT

Candidates should be 50 years of age or below by the closing date of submission of applications

Note: Consideration for contractual employment may be given to

(i) applicants above 50 years of age and

(ii) applications from foreign nationals

SALARY

The permanent and pensionable post carries a monthly flat salary of Rs 168,320. In case of employment on contractual basis, salary would be negotiable.

EXPERIENCE	:	At least 5 years of General Practitioner experience, either in a Public or Private sector

1.	POST	:	PORT FIREMAN
	SALARY SCALE	:	Rs 24,000 x 875 – 31,000 x 1,000 – 32,000x 1,100 – 36,400 x 1,425– 42,100 x 1,525 – 52,775
	QUALIFICATIONS	:	A Cambridge Higher School Certificate with Chemistry and Physics at Principal Level or passes in Chemistry and Physics obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’ A valid private car driving license (manual gear) Computer Literate
			*Note*: Selected candidates will be required to obtain a goods vehicle driving licence (manual gear) before being eligible for confirmation.
	OTHER REQUIREMENTS	:	Medically fit, with a minimum height of 1 m 70 cm and chest 84 cm for male candidates. Normal eyesight without glasses or contact lenses. Candidates should have a good physique with their Body mass Index (BMI) values ranging between 18.50 and 24.99 The applicant’s capacity for physical work shall be tested by medical examination and a physical fitness examination including electrocardiograph examination while carrying out physical work. 2.	POST	:	TECHNICIAN, ELECTRICAL SERVICES

	QUALIFICATIONS	:	Proof of secondary education of up to at least Form 3. National Certificate Level 4 (Electrical Trade/ Electrical Engineering/ Power Systems/ Industrial Engineering/ Electrical Maintenance) or equivalent Vocational Training
	EXPERIENCE	:	At least 3 years post qualification experience in an Electrical Engineering or related field.

3.	POST	:	SEAMAN

	QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE	:	Certificate as an Able Seafarer Deck as per STCW 1978 as amended, with at least 3 years of sea-going experience. OR Able Bodied (AB) Certificate with 3 years’ sea-going experience. OR Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) Certificate with 4 years’ sea-going experience. OR Certificate issued under the provisions of the International Convention on STCW for Seafarers 1978 as amended in 1995 (Reg II/4) with at least 12 months’ sea going experience.
