On the morning of 7th September 2025, Port Louis harbour proudly welcomed Pacific World, the very first cruise ship to mark the beginning of the 2025-2026 cruise season in Mauritius. She last called at the Port of Singapore before making her way to our shores.
Formerly known as Sun Princess and now operated by Peace Boat, this impressive vessel was built in 1995 and measures 261 metres in length. She can accommodate around 2016 passengers, supported by a crew of approximately 924. The vessel was represented by IBL Shipping as the agent. As the largest ship to ever sail under the Peace Boat banner, Pacific World brings both history and grandeur as she launches this new cruise season.
The vessel carried 1731 people on board, of which around 800 went on excursions organised by the tour operator Hello Islands.
Having set sail the same evening for Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Pacific World leaves behind a promising start to the cruise season. Mauritius is set to welcome around 50 cruise vessels this cruise season, carrying approximately 60,000 passengers. This influx will not only strengthen our tourism industry but also reinforce our island’s role as a premier cruise destination in the Indian Ocean.
