The Mauritius Ports Authority is inviting sealed bids from potential buyers for the purchase of scrap
metal and unserviceable items on an ‘as is where is’ basis located at the MPA Stores as detailed below:-
The items may be viewed at the MPA stores, Mer Rouge during weekdays from 9.00 to 14.30 hrs by
contacting the office of the Chief Officer, Procurement and Supply (Stores Section) on No. 206 5517/
206 5521.


Bids should be submitted separately for each item. Bidders may quote for one or more items.
Bids, in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Director-General, Mauritius Ports Authority and clearly
marked “ Sale of Unserviceable Items” should be deposited in the Bid Box located in the Chief
Officer’s Office, 1st Floor, H. Ramnarain Building, Mer Rouge, Port Louis not later than 31 January
2019 at 14.00 hours (local time). Offers received after the specified closing date and time will not be
considered.


Bids should remain valid for a period of 120 days after the closing date and be accompanied by a
security, in the form of a Personal or Bank Cheque equivalent to 10% of the total bid price. Bids not
so secured will be rejected.


The successful bidder(s) shall be required to effect full payment of the quoted sum and arrange to take
delivery of the items within 5 days from the date of award.


The MPA reserves the right to accept, or reject any offer and to cancel the above exercise at any time
prior to award without thereby incurring any liability to affected bidder(s).

Project Title : High Security Fencing at Terminal II, MCT, Les Salines & HRB

Procurement Reference Number: CONTRACT MPA 340/2017

Scope of Works:

The work has been divided into two lots as follows:

  1. Lot I: The Mauritius Container Terminal, Les Salines and H. Ramnarain Building, Mer Rouge. The length of fencing required for Lot I is 2 kms.
  1. Lot II: The Mauritius Multi-Purpose Terminal – Terminal II. The length of fencing required for Lot II is 2 kms.

The scope of works within the contract for both Lot I and Lot II include the following: -

  • Break to remove concrete poles and bases including existing chain link fencing and carting away of construction debris from port area;
  • Cut to remove existing galvanized fencing posts and same to be returned to MPA Store;
  • Engineering designs of the new high security fence to the relevant British Standards including the bases to withstand a wind speed of up to 300km/h.
  • Supply and Erection of new high security fencing posts and panels;
  • Construction of ground beam, block wall and stone work; 
  • Erection of new high security gates;
  • Ducting works including manhole chambers; and
  • Laying of asphaltic concrete pavement/paving blocks.
