Construction of Cruise Terminal Building at Port Louis Harbour

With the ongoing increase in the number of cruise vessels calling at the Christian Decotter Cruise Jetty, located at Les Salines, the MPA is presently providing temporary arrangements for the handling of cruise passengers. In order to enhance the operation and handling of passengers efficiently and to ensure an optimal operating environment during the arrival and departure of cruise vessels, the MPA has embarked on the project for the construction of a Cruise Terminal Building. This new facility would also handle the inter-island passenger traffic and crew from vessels calling at Port Louis.

The new project comprises iconic steel structures with a footprint of 7500 m2, parking space for vehicles together with a new passenger bridge to allow passengers from cruise vessels, berthed at the Bulk Sugar Terminal Quay, to reach the new Cruise Terminal Building for customs and other necessary clearances and formalities.

The MPA has sought request for proposals from contractors through an open advertised international bidding exercise under the aegis of the Central Procurement Board. It is expected that the contract will be awarded by July 2019.
